Halloween

All Hallows Eve, also known to most of us as Halloween is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallow's Day. Halloween the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saintsmartyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.
The word Halloween or Hallowe'en dates to about 1745.Although the phrase "All Hallows'" is found in Old English, "All Hallows' Eve" is itself not seen until 1556.
Today's Halloween customs are thought to have been influenced by folk customs and beliefs from the Celtic-speaking countries, some of which have pagan roots, and others which may be rooted in Celtic ChristianityIn modern Ireland, Scotland, Mann and Wales, the festival included mumming and guising, the latter of which goes back at least as far as the 16th century. This involved people going house-to-house in costume or in disguise, usually reciting verses or songs in exchange for food. It may have come from the Christian custom of souling or it may have a Gaelic folk origin, with the costumes being a means of imitating, or disguising oneself from, the Aos Sí.

Today's Halloween customs are also thought to have been influenced by Christian dogma and practices derived from it. Halloween falls on the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows' Day also known as All Saints' or Hallowmas on 1 November and All Souls' Day on 2 November, thus giving the holiday on 31 October the full name of All Hallows' Eve.
Development of artifacts and symbols associated with Halloween formed over time. Jack-o'-lanterns are traditionally carried by guisers on All Hallows' Eve in order to frighten evil spirits. There is a popular Irish Christian folktale associated with the jack-o'-lantern, which in lore, is said to represent a "soul who has been denied entry into both heaven and hell"

Terry Fox ACSS

Because i was not at school for the time of the Terry Fox run, i had to get some photos off of a friend. These photos show that ACSS students have believed in Terry Fox's accomplishment and his wish for people to make sure the marathon of hope continues. Every year, the Terry Fox run becomes a huge success. Aldergrove Community Secondary School and Betty Gilbert Middle School students participated and were touched by his memory. The middle school and high school came together for exercise, hope, and donation.

“I'm not a dreamer, and I'm not saying this will initiate any kind of definitive answer or cure to cancer, but I believe in miracles. I have to.”

Terry Fox was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and raised in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, a community near Vancouver on Canada's west coast. An active teenager involved in many sports, Terry was only 18 years old when he was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma and forced to have his right leg amputated 15 centimetres above the knee in 1977.
After 18 months and running over 5,000 kilometres to prepare, Terry started his run in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 12, 1980 with little fanfare.
on September 1st, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres, Terry was forced to stop running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario because cancer had appeared in his lungs. An entire nation was stunned and saddened. Terry passed away on June 28, 1981 at the age 22. The heroic Canadian was gone, but his legacy was just beginning. Over $650 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.

Digital Media In My Own Words

Digital media to me is any sort of media that can be created, viewed, or edited on an electronic devise.
Digital media can come in forms of audio video feeds and graphic designs. Some digital medias, such as audio, can be shared or heard by everyone and anyone.
Graphic designs are used to create interactive websites and games that everyone can access.
Video Feeds are are an electronic way of recording, copying, and broadcasting of moving visual images.
